MUHASSINĀT AL-MA’NAWIYYAH DALAM ILMU BADĪ’: ANALISIS GAYA BAHASA DAN FUNGSI RETORIS

Abstract

Muhassināt al-ma‘nawiyyah constitute an important component of ‘ilm al-badī‘ that focuses on semantic beauty in the Arabic language. These rhetorical devices function not only as aesthetic elements but also as strategies that strengthen messages and deepen textual meaning. This article aims to examine the concept of muhassināt al-ma‘nawiyyah, their classifications, and examples of their application in the Qur’an, hadith, and Arabic literary texts. The study employs a qualitative–descriptive approach through a literature review of classical balāghah treatises and relevant scholarly works. The findings indicate that various forms of muhassināt al-ma‘nawiyyah—such as at-tauriyah, ath-thibāq, al-muqābalah, murā‘āt an-naẓīr, ḥusn at-ta‘līl, the reinforcement of praise and blame through paradoxical forms, uslūb al-ḥakīm, al-iltifāt, al-mubālaghah, al-musyākalah, and al-laff wa an-nasyr—serve diverse rhetorical functions in enhancing meaning, emphasizing messages, and increasing the expressive power of the Arabic language. Therefore, a sound understanding of muhassināt al-ma‘nawiyyah is essential for balāghah studies and for in-depth analysis of Arabic texts
