Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on student learning outcomes in the subject of Price Index in class XI.1 at SMA Negeri 11 Palembang. The study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research subjects consisted of 29 students selected using purposive sampling. Learning outcome data were obtained through pretest and posttest tests, then analyzed descriptively using normalized gain (N-Gain) and inferentially using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that the students' average pretest score increased from 62.45 to 91.17 on the posttest. The N-Gain analysis result was 0.68, which is in the moderate category, indicating a fairly effective increase in learning outcomes. In addition, the Wilcoxon test results showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, so it can be concluded that there was a significant difference between student learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the PBL model. Thus, the Problem-Based Learning model has a positive and significant effect on student learning outcomes in the subject of Price Index and can be used as an alternative learning model to improve student learning outcomes in analytical and numerical subjects
