Storytelling in history learning has emerged as a pedagogical strategy capable of addressing the weaknesses of traditional lecture methods, which tend to be informative and one-way. The research gap lies in the need to integrate cognitive and affective dimensions so that students not only memorize facts but also understand the context and meaning of historical events. The main variables studied include the application of storytelling, historical empathy, learning motivation, and student learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of storytelling on improving students' memory retention, emotional engagement, and critical thinking skills. The methods used were a literature review and classroom action research with a quasi-experimental approach, involving a sample of junior high and high school students participating in narrative-based learning. Analysis techniques were carried out through observation, questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The results indicate that storytelling can increase learning interest, strengthen historical empathy by placing students in the perspective of past figures, and make historical facts more memorable. Significant findings confirm that storytelling makes history learning more reflective, contextual, and relevant to contemporary life
