Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, launched by the government in 2024, aims to improve the quality of education and help improve community welfare. This study examines the impact of MBG on employment opportunities and family financial management in South Sumatra, by referring to five journals and policy reports published between 2020 and 2025. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, analyzing documents and secondary data from INDEF, BPS, and regional policy reports. The study shows that MBG increases employment opportunities by 0.19%, increases wages by 0.39%, and helps save household expenses by providing free nutritious food. This study concludes that MBG not only helps education but also provides tangible economic benefits to the people of South Sumatra
