Abstract

This study aims to understand the difficulties experienced by students in learning the concept of demand and supply taught in Economics at SMA PGRI 1 Palembang. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with the subjects being grade 10 students and the Economics teacher as the source of information. The study shows that students have difficulty understanding the concept of demand and supply because the concept is abstract, their mathematical abilities are limited, and the material is not related to economic phenomena in everyday life. External factors such as less interesting teaching methods and minimal use of interactive aids also worsen students' understanding. This study concludes that students need a learning method that is more contextual, always involves interaction, and is based on real-life experiences in everyday life. Suggestions given include the use of market simulations, digital visual media, group discussions based on real cases, and training for teachers in implementing modern learning strategies. By implementing these strategies, students' understanding of the concept of demand and supply can be improved, thereby improving the quality of learning in Economics at SMA PGRI 1 Palembang
